There are many types of sulphuric acid plant currently operating each with a different requirement for mist eliminators. All plants utilize a vanadium catalyst to convert sulphur dioxide to sulphur trioxide, usually by the contact process. They are classified as either single or double absorption plants, by the sulphur dioxide source, and whether or not they produce oleum. Various types of mist eliminator are used in different locations in a sulphuric acid plant.
