Samples of chickpeas (Bengal gram, Cicer arietinum) and pigeon peas (red gram, Cajanus cajan) were infested with Callosobruchus chinensis for 5 months. The threonine content of chickpeas and the lysine and threonine contents of pigeon peas were significantly lower in infested than in uninfested samples. The uric acid contents of the infested pulses were 211 and 205 mg/100 g.
