Size distribution and identification of aerial dust particles in swine finishing buildings

Dust samples were collected from commercial pig finishing units 8 times over 9 months and particle size distribution, particle identification and particle morphology were analysed. The sizes of aerial starch, grain meal and all particles present were described by the log normal distribution. Respirable fractions by mass and by number were 3.7 and 76.1%, resp. as estimated from the particle size distribution.
