Bioassays were used to test the acceptability of leaves (from cruciferous and non-cruciferous plants) to adults of Psylliodes chrysocephala and of stems and leaves to larvae of this species in the laboratory. Only plants containing glucosinolates were eaten. Extracts of plants which contained glucosinolates but which were not eaten deterred feeding on oilseed rape, indicating the presence of antifeedants. Rape extract and glucosinolates stimulated feeding on agar.
