Guinea-pigs were immunized with live, concentrated, aluminium hydroxide vaccines prepared from the attenuated strains Ya2, R13 and A of C. chauvoei. These vaccines provided immunity much sooner than a formalinized vaccine of strain R15. Of the 12 animals vaccinated, 2 were immune after one day, 3 after 3 days and all after 10 days. Formalinized vaccine did not provide immunity in most animals until 15 days after vaccination.
