Lateral incision of the shoulder joint of dogs in surgical treatment of osteochondritis dissecans of the shoulder

The condition is caused by osteogenetic disorders that lead to the presence of small cartilage fragments free in the joint cavity. The surgical technique, described in some detail, aims at the removal of the free cartilage fragments and curettage of the lesions. Successful operations were performed on 14 large dogs with varying degrees of lameness. Restricted movement on a lead is recommended for 14 days.
