Various substances extracted from the bark of viburnum trees were analysed by chromatography. V. prunifolium contained a newly recorded flavone, scopotelin, sitosterin, aesculetin, alpha beta -amyrin and oleanolic and ursolic acids in addition to arbutin and several unidentified pigments, and DL-catechin was isolated from the bark of V. opulus.
