Crop value of comfrey, (Symphytum peregrinum)

Doring, W.

Kuhn-Archiv. 72: 335-375

The article, which is a thesis from the Agricultural Faculty, Halle (Saale), is concerned chiefly with the growing of comfrey as a crop. Of nutritional interest is that traditionally comfrey had special value in injuries to and diseases of bone. Yield, according to conditions of cultivation, appears to lie between 45 and 120 tons per acre; several cuts can be taken in one season to provide green feed for pigs.
