Relations between conformation and antalgic properties in 2-aryl-dihydrothienocoumarins

A conformational analysis was performed to confirm and to interpret the availability of antalgic properties, antipyretic type, in 2-aryl dihydrothienocoumarines. This antalgic activity is not existing in dihydrogenated compounds or in nonsubstituted ones, in position 2. RMN and crystallographic results have demonstrated that only the reduced and substituted, in position 2 compounds, are having an envelope form in thienyl cycle. This conformation would be perhaps a factor of the antalgic activity.
