Grape varieties for tall-stemmed training in the Azov area
Vinodelie i Vinogradarstvo SSSR 1980(7): 30-31
In a trial of wine-making varieties in the Crimea during 1977-79, Stepnyak [grape from the Steppe] was the best white variety, combining high yield and good hardiness with high sugar content and fairly good disease resistance. Of the black varieties, Saperavi Budeshchuri Seburi performed well, equalling Saperavi in yield and hardiness but exceeding it in sugar content and berry size. Tabulated data are presented on yield, bunch weight, sugar content, acid content and frost damage in eight varieties.
