Five years lasting experiments on 60 herbicides used for chemical control of weeds on Satureja hortensis L. plantations at the stage of six leaevs were carried out Of the above preparations the best herbicidal activity develop Maloran (Chlorobromurone), Patoran (Metobromurone) and Topusyn (Desmetrine) first of all. The above herbirides were neither phytotoMic nor decreasing the height of the cropping. The crude drug collected did not show any diminished level of essential oil and phenol if compared to the control crude drug. Furthermore, any residue of the above herbicides was not found in the crude drug examined if checked by the analytical procedures applied. Chemical control of weeds on the Satureja hortensis L. 'plantations by means of Maloran, Patoran and Topusyn enables one to decrease somebody's manual work in a 70%.
