Adaptation of short method of calculating the nutritive content of diets in rural areas of middle Tennessee

A table for the short method of calculating dietary nutrients has been adapted to the food patterns of rural Tennessee; its validity has been verified by comparing values of 80 1-day and 30 7-day records with those obtained by the conventional long method. Comparison is also given between calculated values and laboratory values on duplicate diets for the 80 1-day diets for vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and ascorbic acid.
