A study of the literature indicates that lumbar paralysis of sheep and goats in India is probably associated with cerebrospinal nematodiasis possibly provoked by the parasite Setaria cervi. The disease is seasonal, usually occurring after the rains from October to December. Trials using hetrazan and caricide at a prophylactic dosage of 40 mg. per kg. body-weight and a therapeutic dosage of 100 mg. per kg. were very encouraging.
