The performance of CIM-Jeevan, a mutant line of P. amarus produced by gamma radiation (10 kR), was evaluated in Uttar Pradesh, India during 2001 and 2002. The herb yield of CIM-Jeevan was 1.0-1.15 kg/m2, compared with only 0.79-0.83 kg/m-2 in the control (CIM/PAG-1). CIM-Jeevan also recorded higher phyllanthin (0.70-0.77%) and hypophyllanthin (0.32-0.37%) yields than the control (0.30-0.36 and 0.12-0.17%, respectively).
