To discover possible deleterious effects of seed fumigation, stored grain of varieties of wheat, barley, rice, maize and millet was treated for 5, 10 and 30 days with (1) carbon bisulphide at 0.2 ml/1 of space, (2) ethylene dichloride/ carbon tetrachloride (3: 1 mixture) at 0.35 ml/1 of space and (3) each of these fumi-gants at other rates.
