The distribution of Frankliniella occidentalis and the predatory mite Amblyseius cucumeris was examined on cucumber (Cucumis sativus) plants. Biological control of F. occidentalis by introductions of N. cucumeris, aiming at a thrips larva:predatory mite ratio of 1:1 on the leaves, was also studied. The success rates of other ratios were determined. Experiments were carried out in a greenhouse in spring and summer 1997 under conditions similar to those used commercially.
