Amino acid composition of proteins in tubers of four potato cultivars depending on nitrogen fertilizer application

In field trials on very good rye complex soil, potatoes Ibis and Irga (1988-90) and Heban and Marta (1989-91) were given 0-200 kg N/ha. Effects on the contents of 17 amino acids in the tubers are reported. N application increased the content of most amino acids and improved the nutritive value of the protein. At the highest N rate the concentration of essential amino acids in the total protein increased by 5, 8, 11 and 13% in Irga, Ibis, Marta and Heban, respectively.
