Effect of diet on the susceptibility of the different developmental stages of Corcyra cephalonica Staint. to carbon bisulphide and methyl bromide

The effect of diet on the susceptibility of different stages of Corcyra cephalonica (Stnt.) to fumigation with carbon disulphide and methyl bromide was determined in the laboratory in Egypt. The six diets were wholemeal wheat flour, wheat bran, sifted flour and mixtures of sifted flour and 5% protein (casein), 5% yeast or both. Diet was found to have no effect on the susceptibility of eggs or first-instar larvae to the two fumigants, but it affected that of older larvae and pupae.
