Bovine viral diarrhoea. Diarrhoea of newborn calves. Trial of a swine fever vaccine for prophylaxis and treatment
Bulletin Mensuel de la Societe Veterinaire Pratique de France 59(10): 531-534, 536, 538-541, 544, 546-552
In view of the antigenic relationship between the viruses of BVD-MD and swine fever, calves with suspected or clinical viral diarrhoea were inoculated with varying doses of freeze-dried swine fever culture vaccine, usually along with swine fever immune serum. The trials involved 900 calves on 70 farms. On some farms vaccination was carried out from birth at the first appearance of diarrhoea in the herd; the results were good. On other farms the results were inconclusive.
