Laboratory tests were carried out in Egypt on the effects of fumigation with methyl bromide at different rates at 26 deg C for 24 h on the germination of several varieties of crop seeds. The compound was highly toxic to wheat, moderately toxic to maize, barley and lentils, and virtually harmless to rice and field beans Although there was little difference in the susceptibility of varieties of rice and maize, wheat varieties showed slight differences.
